If the sense of self is still there, but cannot be localized when you look for it, you have already come a long way.
Self-Illusion / First Fetter
Texts and dialogues about seeing through the illusion of self – stream-entry, the first step on the path to awakening.
Final questions
The thing about the final questions in Liberation Unleashed is that they can actually be answered once the self illusion has been intellectually understood. The Shift, is the best indicator that the self illusion has been seen through. So if you can answer the final questions and they have been confirmed positively, but you have not had a shift, the self illusion is most likely not seen through.
Are you ready?
Are you ready for the inquiry into the fetters? It takes curiosity, honesty, focus, priority, continuity, openness, will.
If it feels like goodbye, it feels right
It’s about the truth and nothing else. And if it feels like goodbye, then it feels right. It’s about letting go of everything. And there’s nothing that can save you. Because there is no you. It’s the illusion of this you that says goodbye.

Jim Carrey on a Shift
Jim Carrey describes something in one short sentence that many people recognize from direct investigation:
A shift.
A sudden change in perspective.
Before, it feels as if “someone” is experiencing life.
Then this solid center starts to become unclear.
What is actually happening there?
Who are you?
Who are you, really? Most answers are stories. Name, job, past. But what is actually here, right now?
What happens in the shift?
To see through the self illusion we go into direct experience. Here we separate the sensual experience from mental interpretations.
Self-illusion inquiry
How is the self illusion studied?
Seeing through the self illusion is not only an experience in meditation but also in everyday life.
In the inquiry of the self illusion you don’t go “inward”. You search for the self in direct experience. With the five senses.
It is important to relate to direct experience. Not to thoughts, meditative insights, conclusions or assumptions. You want to see the truth directly!
