Who are you?

Who are you, really? Most answers are stories. Name, job, past. But what is actually here, right now?

Who are you, really?
What do you answer when someone asks you that?

Usually, a story comes up.

A name.
A job.
A few parts of your life.

School. Work. Experiences.
Maybe a few traits.

It becomes something like a small biography.

But is that true?
Is that really what you are?

Alan Watts once said:

“The old stories can be forgotten. That is not you. I want to see your true self in this very moment.”

What is here right now?

Leave the story aside for a moment.
Look here instead.

Now.

What is directly experienced?

Seeing.
Hearing.
Body sensations.
Thoughts appearing.

There is no biography here.
No name.

The story runs in the background

The story is not wrong.
You need it in daily life.

But it runs like a film in the background.

Thoughts say:

“I am this kind of person.”
“I have lived through that.”
“This is who I am.”

The question is:

Is that more than a thought?

Can you find someone?

Look closely.

Here.
Now.

Is there anyone
who is this story?

Or is there only:

Thoughts
Sensations
Perception

An unfamiliar look

This can feel strange.
Maybe even a bit unsettling.

You look for yourself
and find only
what is happening.

An invitation to look

You don’t have to believe anything.

Just look for yourself.
